The American Agave Spirit
Using the name of ‘Tequila’ for agave spirits is regulated, and can only be used for blue agave spirits produced in specific places in Mexico: the state of Jalisco, and parts of Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, and Nayarit. This leaves distillers outside of those regions, especially in the US, with the need to create alternative titles for their agave produced spirits.

Malt U 2019 Recap
On Friday, July 19th, BSG held its second annual Malt U, a two-day symposium dedicated to discussing and educating brewers on all things malt.
We had a wonderful time seeing friends old and new at the 2019 Craft Brewers Conference in Denver – here are just a few of our fond memories from the gathering. See you next year in San Antonio!
GABF 2018 Recap
This year’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF) took off in Denver, Co, and BSG joined the other 62,000 attendees in the festivities. BSG had a booth at the event, and offered up a hop and malt sensory experience for those attending, in which seven malts and five varieties of brewer’s cuts were available for a “rub & sniff” evaluation. Of these, the new Idaho Gem hops were available to test out.
CBC 2014 Preview
Thousands of craft brewers and craft beer industry folks from around the world are about to gather in Denver CO, for the 2014 Craft Brewers Conference and World Beer Cup, put on by the Brewers Association. From April 8th – 11th , and the week leading up, Denver will become the center of the Craft Brewing Universe.
Just as creatively hopped craft beers have captured the taste buds and wallets of consumers, so too has the passion and entrepreneurial spirit of the craft brewing industry captured the hopes of small hop growers across the country.
Malt is who we are
At BSG, we get used to having malt all around us; stacked in one of our many warehouses across the US, samples in our offices, put to use at the breweries we visit, and sold through homebrew shops to the professional brewers of tomorrow.
BSG Oceanside Grand Opening
Last week we celebrated the opening of BSG’s new Oceanside distribution center with an open house for our friends and customers – thank you to everyone who stopped by for tacos and tours, and we look forward to serving you from this facility!
A Trip to Bamberg
Members of the BSG CraftBrewing and BSG Canada teams paid a visit to Bamberg, Germany, home of Weyermann® Specialty Malts. Besides enjoying the famous Weyermann hospitality, our staff got to sample the local beer scene, enjoy luncheon in a barley field, and even do a little brewing. Prost!
