Mandarina Pils

Many of BSG CraftBrewing’s Sales Managers have a background as brewers. Now and then, they get a chance to put on the rubber boots, roll up their sleeves, and get back in the brewhouse.
West Coast Sales Manager Peter Hoey recently teamed up with Brian Ford – Brewmaster/Owner & Bill Wood – Head Brewer of Auburn Alehouse in Auburn CA, to brew a very special beer just for the 2014 Craft Brewers Conference next week in Denver Colorado.
Auburn has won 3 GABF medals for their Pilsner, so Peter wanted to partner with them to brew a lager featuring Weyermann® malts and new HVG hop variety Hallertau Mandarina Bavaria.
They decided a dry hopped pilsner inspired beer would show off the hops while paying homage to the German grown ingredients. It’s a straight forward beer – 97% Weyermann® Pils, 3% Weyermann® Acidulated and 100% Mandarina Bavaria hops.
The nitty gritty details: 12°P SG, 1.9°P FG, 35 IBUs and dry hopped with 3/4 lb per barrel. The majority of the kettle additions were late in the boil and in the whirlpool to emphasize aroma and flavor.
Thirsty?
Well, if you’re at CBC swing on by the BSG CraftBrewing BASECAMP, booths 1501, 1515, and 1613 – we’ll be tapping the beer during BrewExpo America®.
Prost!
